LoAnn

LoANN HWANG ~
FBA Faith Promise Missionary serving with       InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, USA

LoAnn ministers to the international student population at Emory University in Atlanta where she teaches Bible Studies, holds prayer walks, and hosts weekly fellowship dinners. She conducts leadership training to develop small group leaders in the hopes of expanding the ministry’s evangelism and discipleship outreach through the formation of small cell groups. LoAnn understands the isolation and many challenges facing international students as they adjust to a new culture, language, environment, and people. There are nearly 2,600 international students at Emory from all around the world, and seventy-five percent of them are non-Christians. LoAnn’s vision is to plant the seed of Christ in the hearts of international students by creating a place where they have a sense of belonging and can feel comfortable as they pray, study God’s Word, and build a personal relationship with Christ.

Left: Friday Food & Bible study: Thank God for His faithfulness and mercy!

Right: Outreach serving international students’ lunch on Friday to meet new students.

LoAnn shares a ministry update below:

“Praise the Lord for His awesome blessings, mercy, faithfulness, and miracles upon our ministry. All activities were led by our beloved volunteer leaders: Mr. Steve Suggas, Aaron, student leaders, and my supervisor Rev. Glenn Goldsmith. Students come to our Bible study every Friday. This is a very stable group of 12-15 students from about nine countries in which there are about five to six non-Christian students who are seeking God. Our Tea-Talk is a little bit low in attendance. According to my volunteers, students have classes at the same time as our program this semester. I think it is also because we did not have outreach to meet new students this semester while I was on maternity leave. As I mentioned above that God gave me an opportunity to preach at Emory on Sunday, March 19, so I met students and invited them to come and join our ministry. In addition, I am back to work from maternity leave, so I can talk more with students and personally invite them to join our activities again.”

LoAnn’s Prayer Requests:
1. Wisdom, favor, energy, and strength to lead the ministry and taking care of kiddos and family. May God help me to finish this semester strongly.
2. Tea-Talk: May God bring us about 20 new students to join us weekly.
3. Bible study: May God continue working in seekers and open their hearts to see,
confess, repent, and receive Him.
4. Finance: I lost some financial ministry partners. May God lead us to more financial ministry partners. May God provide $10,000 to help me to be fully funded this school year.

Thank you very much. Thinking of and praying for you and yours today. Please also let me know how I can pray for you.

I believe no matter what the circumstance is, together we will glorify God and make Jesus known among the nations! LoAnn

PRAYER & PRAISE ~ June 21-27, 2023

6/21 LoANN HWANG (This week's special blog guest)
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, USA
Pray for LoAnn as she resumes her ministry at Emory amongst the international students and juggles the responsibilities of being a mom to two boys under three years of age. Pray that her TeaTalk and Friday Food & Bible Study will grow and that new students will join them.

6/22 BELA & ILDIKO DOBOS
Word of Life Fellowship (WOLF), Hungary

Pray for Bela and Ildiko as they prepare for their summer camps and open-air outreach in the local community, and retreats for school groups and church youth groups.

6/23 PAUL & LOIS JENKS
AMG International, USA/Asia

Paul and Lois spend a great deal of time in Thailand and Indonesia. In Thailand, they work with By Grace School and Church, which is the only Christian presence in the village. In Indonesia, they partner with the Berita Hidup Foundation, which operates a Bible school and seminary, radio program, church plants, and childcare outreach. Pray for them as they minister and that the Lord will open the hearts of the Th
ai people.

6/24 AL RHEA
Cru  USA/Southern & Eastern Africa

Praise God for the completion of the online Multiplying Churches and Communities (MC2) training. Fifty people were trained, one church planted and over ten small groups formed.

6/25 IGNATIUS & MARJORIE LAKRA
Source of Light Ministries, India

Pray that the Lord will give the Lakras direction and guidance as they look for new ways to evangelize the people of India. Pray that God will provide what they need to continue in ministry, including good health and financial support.

6/26 R & B
Central Africa

As these missionaries develop literature in the local language and teach English in their villages, they have a context in which they are sharing not only the Gospel, but their very lives. Pray that the literacy programs are accepted and allowed to extend to other villages.

6/27 KEITH & RITA HAYWOOD
OM, USA/Worldwide

Please pray for Keith’s mother, who had a stroke in March. After a few days in the hospital, she was transferred to rehab for three weeks, then returned to her assisted living home. Ten days later, they took her to her oncologist. His mom decided not to continue with her cancer treatment. They are now exploring palliative care for her. Please continue to pray for all of them.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” I Corinthians 15:58 (NASB)
