Prayer & Praise - September 1-7, 2021

9/1 EDNER & DOMINIQUE JEANTY
Crossworld, Haiti
The country of Haiti suffered the effects of a 7.2 earthquake Aug. 15, with over 1,400 lives lost; followed by a hurricane. Praise God that Edner & Dominique are safe; however, his secretary lost her father-in-law and several church members with family in the area report casualties. At the Barnabas Center, they will come alongside strategic leaders to enable them to have resources for their families and help restore hope and livelihood in their communities.

9/2 ISAIAS & JUDITH CATORCE
TMS Global, USA
Please pray for their online classes in Surigao City and other churches and places in Mindanao, which begin today. Also, pray for their online schooling as students will soon finish the course for the Certificate of Christian Ministry (CCM) in Japan.

9/3 MICHAIL & LOIS LITSIKAKIS
AMG International, Greece
Please pray for the annual Sports Camp (Sept. 3-6), their best attended event of the year, as local and refugee teenagers come together for an extended weekend of worship, teaching, and many sports. Pray that there will be no more extra restrictions due to the pandemic that would prohibit this event, and that God will work in the lives of those students.

9/4 SERGIO & LINDA MIJANGOS
Avant Ministries, Guatemala
The biopsy on Linda’s spine went well, releasing pressure on the spine which stopped very painful back spasms that she was constantly having. Thank the Lord that Linda was able to start radiation therapy on her spine in August and it has helped significantly with the pain.

9/5 Larry & Peggy Anderson
Youth Outreach United, USA
Please pray for renewed strength for Larry and Peggy who are quarantining with Covid. Pray for the children in the apartment complexes as they return to school.

9/6 BILL & JOY CARERRA
Wycliffe Bible Translators, Peru
The results of Joy's PET scan/MRI and follow-up biopsy of a lymph node during the first week of August detected a return of cancer in two very small lymph nodes. It has been two years and four months from the first diagnosis and one full year of remission.

9/7 T & D
Asia
Pray for the Christian college which has been opened for 61 years and is now facing possible closure, as it is difficult to compete with the government colleges that offer a wider selection of courses. Pray specifically for a new president who is well-connected, well-funded and able to lead the college to restoration.

On August 19 we had the joy of helping Linda Taylor celebrate her birthday! God has a faithful servant in Linda through her giving heart and desire to help our FBA missionaries, which she has done for many years managing our Missionary Care Center (MCC) inside FBA. Along with several committed volunteers, they bring love, support and encouragement to our missionaries by offering clothing, home goods, gifts and many other items that they may need. If you haven't visited the MCC, make a point to do so . . . and be sure to meet Linda and her volunteers and thank them for their service. (Special thanks to Traci Ragan for the cupcakes!)

The Missionary Care Center (MCC) was created in 1989 by a group of First Baptist Church Atlanta women with a heart for missionaries. The center’s purpose is allowing God to show His love to those He has called to serve as missionaries. We do this by ministering to the material needs of FBA Faith Promise missionaries and other qualified missionaries.

The MCC stocks clothing and household goods that are new or in excellent condition. Sections are available for men, women, young adults, and children. The household area is stocked with dishes, sheets, towels, cookware, utensils, and decorator items. Due to storage restraints, we cannot keep large household items and furnishings onsite. However, we keep the contact information for individuals willing to donate these items and match missionaries with contributors as needed.

We are so grateful for each of you and your work in the Missionary Care Center. It is such a blessing every time we come. We never know what treasures we will find. To have a word of prayer is meaningful as well. Thank you for creating such a warm atmosphere.

In Christ’s love,
