Tribute to Don & Susie
Newby . . .
This week, we pay tribute to Don & Susie Newby, former FBA Faith Promise Missionaries, for their many years serving with Greater Europe Mission in Europe and in the USA. The primary focus of the Newbys' ministry has been equipping U.S. churches, as well as European German-speaking churches by modeling and teaching worship and evangelism through music. They worked with worship teams in local American churches, giving them a biblical foundation of worship, and coaching their singers, musicians, and sound engineers. They also visited U. S. colleges and universities to mobilize and recruit students by offering music and ministry education. The Newbys provided both musical and spiritual consulting as they helped students with arranging and producing music. Don's goal was to use the recording studio as an opportunity to disciple musicians who have a heart for God and the Gospel while helping musicians produce music that can be used as a ministry tool. Don would return to Germany periodically each year to teach, preach, lead worship, and hold workshops. In 2020, they took a step of faith moving back to the U.S. after serving in Germany for 37 years. They now live in Raleigh, NC.
FBA Global Missions received a December 2022 Christmas greeting from the Newbys, expressing gratefulness through 42 years with Greater Europe Mission. On December 31st their status changed from full-time to associate status. (As of January 1, FBA support ceased, as they retired.) They ask for continued prayers, as they navigate opportunities God puts in their paths. They serve in the church they attend in music, hospitality, cleaning and any other areas where they can contribute. Don continues teaching guitar, voice and coaching song writing, etc. via Zoom to students in German speaking Europe as well as in person lessons in Raleigh.
Their Fall ministry trip to Germany had to be postponed as Susie's health has worsened. She has been diagnosed with a rare genetic disease which has deteriorated her liver which is now causing ascites. Please pray with them for wisdom for the various doctors on her case.
Their faith is strong and Don has shared the words to a song by Andre Crouch which he sang at his and Susie's wedding in 1976. It is just as true and even more meaningful to them today!
My Tribute
(Song & Lyrics by Andrae Crouch)
How can I
say thanks for the things You have done for me?
Things so
undeserved yet you give to prove your love for me,
the voices
of a million angels could not express my gratitude,
All that I
am and ever hope to be, I give it all to Thee.
To God be the
glory, to God be the glory,
to God be the glory for the things He
has done.
With His blood He
has save me, with His power He has raised me,
To God be the
glory for the things He has done.
Just let me live
my life, let it be pleasing, Lord, to thee.
And should I gain
any praise, let it go to Calvary!
Prayer Requests from the Newbys:
- Pray that ministry seeds planted in Germany will continue to grow.
- Pray for Susie's health and for wisdom for the various doctors working on her behalf.
- Pray for supernatural enlightenment in the procedures the doctors should follow.
- Pray that God will continue to meet their needs.

will be traveling to North Africa for a few days to finalize training for four
groups of pastors and church leaders. The training should begin early this year
and last for a minimum of three years and is expected to expand to four other

the country.
