OLI & JUDY JACOBSEN ~
Faith Promise Missionaries serving with Ethnos360
Oli and Judy serve with Ethnos360, the agency formerly known as New Tribes Mission. Oli is the chairman of international ministries and serves on two of the agency's international leadership teams and board of directors. He leads teams in three regions of Asia where over 3,000 Ethnos360 missionaries serve. Oli provides consulting services for teams during all stages of the church-planting process to make sure the teams uphold the core values of Ethnos360 while adhering to international policies. While in Asia, Oli holds a weekly Bible study for men and women, as well as a Monday morning men's Bible Study. Judy is Oli's executive assistant and serves as secretary for the two international leadership teams. Below is their recent newsletter.
Dear Partners in the ministry,
We praise the Lord for our time in Asia and here is a quick recap – and as they say “a picture is worth a thousand words” – so we will include a lot of pictures in this update.
Here you can see us in our joint Filipino / Expat leadership meetings where we discussed issues common to us as coworkers such as: the things that truly unite us as a team regardless of our language and cultural backgrounds; ways we can strengthen the partnership in our ministry contexts; what are the challenges we face that call us to assist one another on a regular basis, etc. It was an encouraging time for everyone, and we hope will significantly strengthen the partnership.
We also were on the island of Mindanao for a week, spending time with our new missionaries in language study and with other personnel there. We were able to participate in a morning of formal meetings followed by an afternoon of informal interaction, a prayer meeting, visiting in homes, etc.
On Feb. 1 we were off for a quick trip to another part of Asia where we had time with some of our local board. The role of this board is vital to us in that country. We had the privilege of honoring two very special ladies on this visit, both who are widows of former board members, and one has served as chairman of the board since her husband passed away.
Pray:
• Preparations for upcoming meetings.
• In the Philippines in June, where Oli is scheduled to speak five times at their annual field conference. Pray as he prepares for these opportunities.
• Pray that our time in the Philippines will have lasting results, as well as in Indonesia, in the lives of those
with whom we interacted. Praise: • For 55 wonderful years of marriage. Again, your part in our lives through your interest and involvement through prayer and gifts is a huge encouragement to us. We count it a privilege as the Lord continues to give opportunity to minister to our mission family worldwide.
Because of Calvary,
Oli and Judy
