Doug & Lisa Mitts

DOUG & LISA MITTS  ~

                        Greater Europe Mission

FBA Faith Promise Missionaries Doug and Lisa Mitts serve with Greater Europe Mission in Germany and Europe. Doug serves on both the GEM and senior leadership teams as the leader for CityReach, where he is responsible for spiritual formation mission wide. He coaches GEM staff members in an effort to see discipleship and church-planting movements ignited in the major European urban centers across the continent. One of Doug’s key roles is to keep the GEM missionaries flourishing in their relationship with God. Lisa serves as a leader for GEM staff members and disciples women. She received her certificate in spiritual direction this past August 2022 from Selah Europe.

Doug and Lisa have done a variety of things in ministry over the years, but they focus on advancing church planting and developing national leadership.

The Mitts have a daughter, Megan, and a son, Michael. Megan graduated in May with her Masters in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care. Soon after graduation, Biola University hired her to work in international admissions and to offer spiritual direction to current students. Throughout the year she has continue to lead the junior high ministry at her church.

                                                                                                                                            Doug, Lisa, Megan and Michael

Michael is still pursuing his pre-med studies and preparing for the MCAT. Over the summer he became a certified phlebotomist and now works in one of the hospitals in Austin. Michael enjoys serving on a ministry leadership team for young adults at his church.

Lisa and Doug have had a full year of ministry (2022). This included transitioning Focus City Frankfurt to young leadership. They’ve enjoyed the outreaches, the disciplining, the offering of spiritual direction and retreats. They’ve seen the people they lead - mature and multiply disciples, which excites them as they take their home ministry assignment. They’ve had a lot of fun training and leading university students this past summer, which was a highlight for them. Lisa received her certificate in spiritual direction this past August, and Doug continues serving on faculty with Selah Europe, training spiritual directors. The GEM Spiritual Life ministry continue to serve the organization well, and they heard great reports from those impacted by this work.

During 2023, Doug and Lisa will take their home ministry assignment (HMA) and totalization year. They have not taken an HMA in 10 years, and they really sensed the need, and their government also requires them to regularly do what is called Totalization (it has to do with social security). Please pray for them as they reside in Texas for this year, and for the Holy Spirit to lead them in their ongoing work in disciple-multiplication, spiritual formation, and spiritual direction.  www.Momentswiththemitts.com

PRAYER & PRAISE ~March 8-14, 2023

3/8 Sergio & Linda Mijangos
Avant Ministries, Guatemala
Pray for the people whom the Mijangos interact with in the process of caring for Linda. They desire that their lives will be a testimony of their faith and the Lord’s work in their lives, fulfilling what they believe is one of the purposes of the Lord in bringing them to Houston. Some of the secondary effects of the Car-T treatment on Linda are still present, but under control and not very severe. Unfortunately, the Car-T treatment did not produce the desired results. Pray also for the process of extension for Linda’s residence in Guatemala.

3/9 DOUG & LISA MITT (our blog guests this week)
Greater Europe Mission, Germany
Pray for Doug and Lisa as they take their home ministry assignment and totalization year, which they have not had in 10 years. Pray that the Holy Spirit blesses them as a couple, renews their strength, and meets their needs on their ongoing work as they reside in Texas for this year.

3/10 Gary & Penny Seithel
United World Mission, England
Across Uganda, schools reopened on February 7. Penny and Gary’s teams in Rakai and Kampala busily prepared the school sites and classrooms, painted, purchased supplies, and local women tailors excitedly made many uniforms. Additional desks were built, and anticipation grew! Please pray for a successful year ahead for all students and staff.

3/11 J & R
Asia
Pray for two events in which J & R are inviting the local refugees. Today is a men's gathering, fellowship and sharing information, and on the 23rd they will hold a party to celebrate the local New Years. Pray as they continue to teach and develop church leaders in the local church.

3/12 Ruth Rhea Greenhaw
Cru, USA
Please pray for Ruth and her team that they will continue to rely on God's strength, wisdom, and power to create an environment for the new staff. Please pray for protection from health issues, but also from the enemy’s attacks. He cTannot be happy that there are twenty-two new missionaries being trained to go to the world. Pray for the new staff to connect well with each other, learn what they need to learn, and be more assured of their calling from God.

3/13 Gary & Esther Smith
Ethnos360, Papua New Guinea
Please pray for Jeremiah and Ralf, along with some new missionaries and leaders, who will be hiking to several villages over rough terrain, to talk with the people and get an idea about the possibility of allocating new missionaries to those villages. There is also a great need for doctors and teachers in PNG to provide a clinic and school to serve the missionaries and their children.

3/14 S.S.
Asia
Please pray that S.S. will be able to travel back to his ministry country by May and continue the mission work. Pray for the Indian Bible School students with whom he'll be working, that they will trust God for their provision and safety.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” I Corinthians 15:58 (NASB)
